About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Night Warehouse Selector role in Charlotte, NC. I've been placing people in warehouse jobs for over a decade, and I can tell you straight up: this one's for folks who don't mind hard, physical work and want a clear path to move up. US Foods is a major player, and they run their operations with that in mind.
What You'd Be Doing
You're the one pulling the orders that go out to restaurants and businesses. It's a night shift job where your focus on safety and accuracy directly fuels the business.
- Picking customer orders from the warehouse racks to build pallets.
- Working as part of a team to make sure every order is exact and gets out the door without damage.
- Operating equipment like a motorized pallet jack to move product around.
- You'll be working in different temperature zones, from freezer areas (as cold as -5 degrees) to much warmer sections.
The Schedule & Physical Side
This isn't a desk job. You need to be ready for it physically, and the schedule is fixed.
- The shift is 8+ hours overnight, typically Sunday through Thursday. Weekends and holidays come up sometimes; you'd need to be available for those when required.
- You're lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling anywhere from 20 to over 80 pounds. Repeatedly. You'll move more than a thousand cases of product in a single shift.
- The whole environment is physical. Recent experience in something demanding; like construction, farming, fitness training, or even patient transfer; is a real plus.
A few non negotiable things to make sure you're set up for success here.
- You have to read and communicate well in English. This is for safety training, conversations with your team, understanding coaching, reading labels, and filling out any necessary reports.
- Comfort working in those multi temperature environments (again, from -5°F to over 100°F) is required.
- If you've selected large scale orders in another warehouse or distribution center before, that's preferred. Same goes for experience with a motorized pallet jack.
