Smart Foodservice Stores LLC is hiring a Team Lead for their CHEF'STORE location in Charlotte, NC. Pay starts at $18.32 an hour. The schedule requires flexibility for store openings and closings, weekends are mandatory, and you'll work 30 to 40 hours each week.

What you'll actually do day to day

This isn't a desk job. You'll be working the sales floor, stocking shelves, setting up displays, ringing up merchandise, and doing cleaning duties as needed. You'll keep an eye on inventory levels in your assigned areas and make sure they match what the store can hold, what's on promotion, what customers are asking for, and what's seasonal. You'll complete daily orders. You'll execute date checks every day to keep product fresh. You'll train and motivate the staff, helping them hit the same standards you're setting.

When the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager isn't around, you'll open and close the store. You'll step into Manager on Duty duties when needed. You're expected to be a role model for the company's cultural beliefs. You'll keep the facility in good shape and make sure it's safe for everyone ; customers and staff alike. If you spot a safety issue, you correct it if you can, and you always notify management about anything you can't fix on your own. And yeah, other duties will come up as store management sees fit.

Supervision and relationships

You won't be a direct supervisor for anyone. But you might need to monitor how people are doing and give real time coaching to help associates hit their goals. You'll interact with employees at every level in the company, plus customers and service providers.

Where you'll be working

This is a retail store open to the public. You'll be exposed to outside weather, including inclement weather. The noise level is usually moderate. Most work is done on a level surface, but you might need to use a ladder or work on an elevated surface. Temperatures in the store range from -10 to 85 degrees, so dress accordingly. You'll physically interact with customers throughout the day.

What you need to bring

  • Three years of experience in retail, a restaurant, or customer service. Supervisory or lead experience is preferred.
  • A flexible schedule that includes holidays and weekends.
  • Competency with computers, word processing, email, and internet software.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The desire and ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • The ability to size up situations quickly, address issues, and make solid business decisions.
  • Good common sense and logical thinking.
  • The ability to build professional relationships with your client base.
  • Being self motivated, with the ability to analyze customer needs and make recommendations based on sound business knowledge.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to help anywhere needed ; everyone in the store rolls up their sleeves to get the job done.

Physical requirements

You'll be standing and walking continuously. Sitting and driving a vehicle happens occasionally. You'll lift and carry up to 20 pounds continuously, 21 to 50 pounds continuously, 51 to 100 pounds frequently, and over 100 pounds occasionally. Pushing and pulling is frequent. You'll climb and balance frequently, stoop and squat frequently, kneel occasionally, bend frequently, reach above shoulder frequently, and twist frequently. Grasping objects is continuous, manipulating objects is continuous, and manual dexterity is frequent.
