
About This Role
Alright, let's get straight to it. We're looking for a Maintenance Technician in Charlotte, NC. This isn't about just fixing things; it's about taking care of homes and the people who live in them. You'll be the one they call when something needs attention.
What you'll do
You'll handle a wide variety of repair and maintenance work across our single family rental homes. Your day is never just one thing.
- Respond to maintenance service requests from residents, covering multiple trades.
- Complete regular ProCare visits inside residents' homes to catch small issues before they become big problems.
- Help educate residents on basic maintenance topics around their home.
- Every time you visit a property, you're assessing its overall condition and flagging anything urgent for our property management team.
- Review technician reports to find ways you can improve your own work.
- Get vacant homes ready for new residents by making repairs while they're on the market or during the turn process.
- A company vehicle and tools are provided, so taking good care of that equipment is part of the job.
The experience you bring
We need someone who knows their way around a house. A formal education is less important than proven, hands on skill.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is needed.
- You've got solid experience in residential repairs and maintenance, building maintenance, or something closely related.
- You understand how homes are built and how their systems work. You should be able to handle general repairs in areas like plumbing, electrical, carpentry, sheetrock, exterior structural work, minor HVAC, and appliances. Don't worry; we provide some training where needed.
- Comfort using mobile devices like iPads or iPhones and different apps is a must for managing your work orders.
- A current driver's license and automobile insurance are non negotiable. Any other licenses or certifications required by state law are also needed.
Certs & physical stuff
A few specifics that matter for this role. Some are required right away; others are a nice bonus if you have them already.
- OSHA 10 certification is required. If you don't have it yet, new hires get up to 90 days to complete it after starting.
- A few certifications aren't required but would be great if you have them: EPA Certification (Type I and II), HVAC Certification, or a CPO (pool) certification.
- The work is physical. It requires frequent climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing.
- You need to be able to lift 50 pounds or more regularly and operate standard maintenance equipment we assign to you.
- The schedule needs your consistency. That means being at work regularly as scheduled which can include weekends and holidays when necessary. You also need to provide your own basic hand and power tools for daily use. Occasionally this role involves conducting occupancy checks or attending eviction lockouts/setouts alongside local law enforcement.
The pay & benefits
The salary range for this position is $19.11 - $33.13 per hour. On top of that base pay individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program.
