Invitation Homes·Charlotte, NC

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Maintenance Technician with Invitation Homes in Charlotte, NC. You're the person who shows up, fixes what's broken, and makes sure people are happy in their homes. It's hands on work where you're the one solving the problem.

What You'll Do

You'll handle maintenance requests across a bunch of different areas; plumbing, electrical, appliances, that sort of thing. A big part of it is talking with residents; you're educating them on maintenance stuff and making sure they have a good experience.

  • Do regular ProCare visits to catch small issues before they become big ones.
  • Every time you're at a property, you're checking its overall condition and flagging anything urgent for the management team.
  • The work happens in occupied homes and in vacant ones that are between residents or being turned over for the next person.
  • You'll use company provided tools, materials, and a vehicle. Taking care of that equipment is part of the deal.
  • There are some specific reports you'll review to find ways to improve your own work.

The Skills & Experience You Need

You've got to understand how a house works. We need someone with proven experience in residential repairs and maintenance or similar building work.

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • You need an OSHA 10 certification. If you don't have it yet, new hires get up to 90 days to complete it.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance are mandatory. Any other licenses your state requires are needed too.
  • Comfort using mobile devices like an iPad or iPhone for various apps is essential for the job.

The Technical Stuff

We need someone who can perform general repairs. Understanding residential construction and mechanical systems is key. You should be able to handle tasks in several areas:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical work
  • Carpentry and sheetrock
  • Exterior structural items
  • Minor HVAC repairs
  • Appliances

(Don't worry, some training will be provided.) A couple certifications are preferred but not required: an EPA Certification (Type I and II HVAC) or a CPO certification for pool maintenance would be great if you have them.

The Physical Side & Schedule

This isn't a desk job. The work requires frequent climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing.

  • You must be able to lift and move over 50 pounds and operate standard maintenance equipment.

The schedule needs flexibility. You have to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; that includes weekends and holidays when they come up. Sometimes you might conduct occupancy checks or attend eviction lockouts in coordination with local law enforcement.

A final note: you need to provide your own basic hand and power tools for the job.

The Pay & Perks

The salary range for this position is $19.11 - $33.13 per hour. On top of that base pay, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay within that range depends on your skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable employment laws where you live. Here’s what else comes with the job:
