About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this nursing job. It's not in a hospital; you're going to people's homes in Charleston, WV. That changes everything. You're the one showing up, figuring out what they need, and making sure their care plan actually works for them. If you like solving problems on your own and building real connections, this might be your thing.
What you'd do
You're the primary nurse for your patients. You follow the provider's plan of care, but a huge part of your day is using your own judgment. You're watching for changes and adjusting on the fly.
- Give all the direct patient care at home, from meds to wound care.
- Your assessments are key. You'll check vitals, blood glucose, and look for any new issues like infections or bedsores.
- Then you document it all thoroughly and report changes back to the provider.
- You'll handle medication administration, insulin, and IV fluids.
- Caring for wounds, changing dressings, and helping with personal hygiene are all part of it.
- And you're not alone; you'll collaborate with providers, aides, and other health pros to make sure your patients get the best outcomes.
What you need to bring
A couple things are non negotiable here. Other stuff is just really helpful.
- An Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) or an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS). That's required.
- A current, unrestricted license to practice as an RN in this state.
- A reliable car. You've got to be able to get yourself to and from patient homes and maybe a work location.
- Now, here's the bonus round: if you have practical experience with trachs or ventilators? That's a big plus. It's not a deal breaker if you don't, but it's preferred.
The schedule & how it works
The flexibility here is real. They mean it when they say they're dedicated to work/life balance.
- You can choose full time, part time, or PRN. They build the schedule around what you need.
- It's strictly one patient at a time. No splitting your focus between multiple rooms.
- And there's no mandatory overtime waiting for you at the end of a shift.
Pay & benefits
The pay is competitive for the area. But there are a couple of features that make life easier.
- The Daily Pay option is available if you want it. You don't have to wait two weeks for a paycheck.
