The Role

Weyerhaeuser is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner for our OSB manufacturing facility in Charleston, WV. This isn't a behind the scenes HR role; you'll sit on the Sutton OSB Leadership Team and the Panels/EWP Human Resources Team. You'll report to the Senior HR Business Manager - Panels/EWP with a dotted line to the Sutton Mill Manager.

As a strategic partner, you'll run point on all HR systems and practices at the site. That means collective bargaining, recruiting, employee relations, performance management, succession planning, and training. You'll be the trusted advisor that site leadership turns to when things get complicated ; guiding them through operational challenges while applying enterprise wide tools and policies that go beyond just this mill.

What You'll Do

  • Sit on the site leadership team and champion safety and wellbeing for every employee
  • Model Weyerhaeuser's core values: Safety, Integrity, Citizenship, Sustainability, and Inclusion
  • Act as a strategic HR partner to both the Sutton leadership team and the broader Product Line HR organization
  • Support a unionized workforce ; think collective bargaining, grievance handling, and union communications
  • Coach leaders across all HR disciplines: employee relations, talent management, leadership development
  • Partner with leaders and employees to boost engagement, productivity, and retention numbers
  • Build strategic workforce plans and succession pipelines that match current and future business needs
  • Cultivate community partnerships that keep talent flowing in sustainably
  • Guide compensation planning and performance management processes across the operation
  • Work with Talent Acquisition on hiring strategies for salaried and hourly roles ; from workforce planning through candidate experience to onboarding outcomes
  • Analyze trends and metrics so your HR solutions stay sharp; make sure everything complies with employment laws
  • Jump into enterprise level HR initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as they come up

What You Need

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or something related ; don't worry if it's not an exact match; we look at what you actually studied here)
  • At least 5 years of real world HR experience (preferably already working as an HR Business Partner)
  • A track record of advising both leaders and employees on genuinely complex HR matters ; not just routine stuff)
  • A strong preference for candidates who already have labor relations experience;. If you've worked with unions before mention it clearly)
