What It's Like in This Role / JobXi / Charleston, SC
You'll work in a unit that's busy but purposeful. The pace is intense during admissions or when a patient's condition deteriorates, but there are also quiet moments for charting and family conversations. Team dynamics are collaborative ; you rely heavily on CNAs for patient mobility and docs for treatment changes. The schedule includes 12 hour shifts, either days or nights depending on the employer. Overtime is common but optional. The unit uses equipment like intracranial pressure monitors, sequential compression devices, and fall risk protocols. It's a role where you think on your feet and never stop learning.
Why You'll Like This Opportunity
Neurology nursing offers real variety. Every shift is different because no two patients present the same way. There's room for growth into specialized roles like stroke coordinator or clinical educator. Many employers in Charleston, SC offer flexible scheduling, including per diem options. You'll build deep clinical knowledge that transfers to other specialties. And neuro patients often have long recovery journeys ; the relationships you build with families are rewarding.
Schedule & Work Type
Most positions are full time with 12 hour shifts. Day or night options available depending on the employer. Part time and per diem roles exist but are less common. This is an onsite hospital role ; remote or hybrid isn't an option because patient care happens in person.
