About This Role
Hey there. I've been a nurse recruiter for over a decade, and I can tell you; some units just have a special feel. The Maternity Suite at Cambridge Hospital is one of them. It's more than a job site; it's where over 1,100 families start their journey each year. You'd be working on the Labor and Delivery side of things, in a 7 bed unit with 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms. The views of downtown Boston and Harvard Square aren't bad, either.
We're proud of our work here. Our multidisciplinary care and culturally sensitive approach lead to some of the lowest C section rates in the state. Right next door, the Postpartum Unit has 12 private rooms and a level 1b continuing care nursery, focusing on couplet care and early bonding. It's a complete, supportive environment.
The Work
This is a night shift position on L&D. You'll provide ongoing assessment and care for mothers from the antenatal period through intrapartum and postpartum, following established guidelines. That means caring for both the mother and newborn, providing education throughout that entire continuum.
You're also orchestrating discharge planning and follow up care for both patients. Beyond direct care, you'll participate in unit based quality initiatives to help us keep getting better.
What You Need to Bring
- A current Massachusetts RN license.
- Current BLS from the AHA or ARC; ACLS and NRP are also required.
- Recent labor and delivery experience is required.
- A BSN degree is preferred.
- We'd prefer if you have AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Your clinical practice needs to align with guidelines from AWHONN, ACOG, NRP, and AAP. You'll also need to successfully complete our unit based competency programs.
