Insurance Claims Specialist

The Role

Zurich is bringing on an RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I for our Rural Community Insurance Services team. This person works out of their home office and covers Butte des Morts, WI territory. You'll spend about half your time on the road, traveling within a 100 mile radius of Shawano, Oconto, and Marinette counties in Wisconsin. It's 40 hours a week.

What You'll Actually Do

You handle field inspections. That means reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields and storage bins, and talking with farmers about crop loss. You'll deal with the tougher non routine claims, including controversial ones, but you'll have minimal supervision to get it done.

• Convey complex crop insurance regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people
• Do fact finding on crop damage, record what you find, and transmit loss information to determine potential indemnities
• Gather facts to apply applicable law and establish basic principles of negligence
• Complete claim reviews and audits on lower level adjusters as assigned
• Keep current on regulatory and company policies to ensure legal compliance
• Contribute to team results and participate on projects as needed

What You Need to Bring

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area
• Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) ; you must get this within 180 days of your hire date
• Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license

There are physical requirements too. You'll walk through agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in any weather or temperature.

Pay and Benefits

Your pay depends on your role, location, skills, and experience. For this position, the hourly range is $22.40 to $30.87. You're also eligible for a short term incentive bonus of 5%, plus bonuses and merit increases based on performance.
