The Gig

Abigail Kirsch is looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join the crew at Tappan Hill Mansion in Bronx, NY. This isn't a line cook job where you just show up and execute. You'll be handing the food, prepping it, and helping train and supervise the team around you. It's full time work that keeps you on your toes.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing, cooking, and plating menu items so they meet Abigail Kirsch's quality standards.
• You'll follow detailed recipes, instructions, and event specific guidelines for every function ; consistency matters here.
• Relying on strong knife skills to get precise cuts and efficient prep done right.
• Working with chefs, other cooks, and front of house staff to make sure events run smooth from start to finish.
• Keeping your station clean, organized, and safe according to food safety rules.
• Managing time well enough to hit deadlines without cutting corners.
• Talking clearly with team members and leadership as things change through service.
• Being flexible when event needs shift; jumping in where support is needed without being asked twice.

What You Need

• Proven experience as a cook in New York catering, banquets, or event environments ; this is non negotiable for us.
• Knife skills that are sharp (pun intended) along with solid food prep techniques.
• Cooking experience with a proofer ; you know what it takes to handle those high volume situations.
• The ability to read and follow detailed instructions and recipes accurately; no winging it here.
• A calm way of communicating so you can collaborate well even when things get hectic.
• Strong organizational chops ; multitasking under pressure is part of the daily rhythm.
• Punctuality plus reliability because we count on every person on this team showing up ready.
• A positive attitude even when the heat is on; working well under pressure is essential.

The Schedule & Pay

The schedule is flexible on call style ; you need to be available evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by our events calendar. The compensation ranges from $23 to $25 an hour depending on your actual experience level. Pay is based on what you bring to the table (literally).
