About This Role

Job Overview

We're posting this for a busy kitchen in the Bronx, NY area that needs a solid line cook. This is the kind of job where you show up, fire up your station, and make food people remember. You'll be prepping, cooking on the line during service, and keeping everything clean and organized. It's physical work, but there's a real rhythm to it once you get going.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your main focus is getting plates out right and on time. That covers a lot of ground.

  • Daily prep work for your assigned station; mise en place is everything here.
  • Cooking and plating dishes during lunch and dinner rushes according to spec.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards are non negotiable.
  • A good line cook also helps with receiving and storing deliveries when they come in.
  • You're part of a crew, so assisting other stations when you're in the weeds is expected.

Requirements

You don't need a culinary degree, but you do need to have done this before. They want someone who knows their way around a kitchen without constant supervision.

  • A year or two of experience working a line in a full service restaurant. Fast food doesn't really translate for this one.
  • You understand basic kitchen safety and food handling. A food handler's card is great if you have it; if not, you'll need to get one fast.
  • The physical side is real: you're on your feet for hours, lifting cases, moving in a tight space. It's not desk work.
  • A calm head when tickets are piling up makes all the difference.

What It's Like In This Role

The environment is what you'd expect; hot, loud during service, and focused. But there's camaraderie. You rely on the person next to you on the line, and they rely on you. The equipment is standard commercial stuff: heavy duty ranges, flattops, fryers. You'll work mostly evenings and weekends; that's just how restaurants run. Some shifts will fly by, others will test your stamina. And at the end of it, you can see what you accomplished.

Why You'll Like This Opportunity

Every kitchen has its own style and menu, so there's always something new to learn if you pay attention. The schedule can offer flexibility depending on the employer's needs; some places need closers, some need swing shift. It’s a role where showing up consistently and doing good work gets noticed quickly by chefs who move up and often want to bring their reliable people with them.

Schedule & Work Type

This is an onsite position in Bronx, NY. Most openings are full time with a mix of day and evening shifts, but part time roles pop up too. Weekends and holidays are almost always required; that’s just part of the industry.
