About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Endoscopy RN spot at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital in Brandon, FL. I've been placing nurses here for years, and the team genuinely wants to hear from you. They're looking for someone who brings their whole self to the unit, not just their skills.
What You'll Be Doing
You're the nurse from pre op through recovery. It starts with evaluating patients before they head back, making sure they're ready and that they understand what's happening. You'll handle IVs, pre op meds, and verifying the surgical site.
A huge part of the job is being that steady, knowledgeable presence for patients and their families. You're educating them on the procedure, what to expect after, and any follow up care they'll need. During the procedure itself, you're a core part of the team; working directly with providers, surgeons, and techs; to manage patient emergencies and apply evidence based practices. You'll participate in all the safety protocols: the briefing, time out, and debriefing.
- Use your critical thinking to independently deliver safe care.
- Your shift involves constant assessment and monitoring; you need to document changes in condition and your interventions thoroughly.
- They run continuous improvement initiatives, so you'll help manage those efforts while providing patient centered care.
What You Need to Bring
The non negotiables are pretty clear. You need an Associate Degree in Nursing and a current RN license.
- You have to get your Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within your first 30 days on the job.
- Your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification needs to be obtained within 6 months of starting.
The Schedule & Environment
This is a full time position. They use a self scheduling system that gets posted four weeks out, which gives you some real predictability for planning your life. The culture on this surgical staff is built on mutual respect; it's genuinely collaborative.
There is an on call requirement during select non business hours, so that's part of the deal. Leadership makes a point of rounding regularly with charge nurses and staff; they want your input on patient care and workflow suggestions. And they don't skimp on tools; there's continuous investment in new equipment, instruments, and devices so you can work safely and efficiently.
