Pediatric OR RN Travel Assignment

The Work

You'll be the nurse in the room for pediatric surgeries from start to finish. It's about making sure everything runs smoothly and safely for young patients during a vulnerable time.

• Your day starts with prepping the OR. You check all instruments and sterile supplies are ready and working.
• You help get patients positioned and settled before surgery, answering their questions and easing nerves.
• Keeping a strict sterile field is non negotiable. You're the one maintaining it throughout every procedure.
• A big part of the job is anticipation. You hand instruments to the surgeon and support the team to keep things moving without a hitch.
• You're monitoring the patient's condition during surgery, documenting changes and alerting the surgeon if anything significant happens.
• Afterward, you handle surgical instruments for proper sterilization and disposal, manage specimen collection correctly, and document everything thoroughly in the patient's record.
• The role includes patient handoff communication before and after surgery to ensure care continuity.
• Between cases, you assist with cleaning and restocking the OR to meet turnover protocols.

What You Need to Bring

Let's be direct about qualifications. To be considered, you must have:

• A solid year of recent experience specifically as a Pediatric Operating Room RN.
• A valid RN license for the state you'll be working in.
• Current BLS certification from the AHA or ARC.
• Either PALS or ENPC certification, current.

A few things that would make your application stand out:

• ACLS certification is a plus.
• So is an OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
