Nurse Practitioner

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this role. We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Vascular Anomalies and Interventional Radiology team at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA. You'd be working directly with our Interventional Radiologists to manage a pretty specific and interesting patient population.

What you'd be doing

The core of the job is managing care for kids who need interventional radiology procedures or who have vascular anomalies. It's a mix of inpatient and outpatient work, and you're the consistent point of contact.

  • You'll assess, diagnose, and treat these patients in consultation with the attending physicians.
  • A big part of the day is ordering and interpreting lab tests and other diagnostics.
  • Managing post procedure recovery, doing inpatient rounds, and coordinating with other providers across the hospital.
  • Handling prescriptions, making referrals, and organizing follow up care. That includes phone calls to check in, triaging any complications, and seeing patients back in clinic.

Schedule & logistics

This is a 36 hour a-week position. It's Monday through Friday, but your shift length can vary between 8 and 12 hours depending on the day's needs.

What you need to bring

We need someone who's done this before and can hit the ground running.

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited NP (MSN or DNP) or Physician Assistant program is required.
  • You must have at least two years of experience as a Pediatric NP (primary or acute care), Family NP, or Physician Assistant.
  • If you've worked on an interdisciplinary team before, that’s a definite plus. You have to be organized, a clear communicator, and comfortable working independently.
  • For licensure: a current Massachusetts license to practice as an NP (PNP or FNP) or PA. You also need your MCSR and DEA registration upon hire.

The offer

The base pay range posted is what we believe is fair for this role when we post it. What you're actually offered will depend on your specific experience, education, certifications; the whole picture. Base pay is just one piece.

  • There’s a sign on bonus on the table too; it starts at $5,000+ and can go up based on your relevant experience.
  • The benefits package is comprehensive. We offer flexible schedules.
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance that’s affordable.
  • Subsidies for child care and student loans are available.
  • The time off is generous; it covers vacation, holidays, sick days; and there's a robust retirement plan with both a 403(b) savings plan and a Pension plan.
  • Talent development matters here; we offer tuition reimbursement along with reimbursement for certain licenses and certifications you might need for the job.
  • There are also some practical perks like cell phone plan discounts and discounted T passes for your commute.
