Flight Paramedic

Job Overview

Flight paramedics don't just respond to emergencies ; they get to them before anyone else can. This role puts you in the air and on the front line, delivering critical care in Boise, ID and surrounding areas. You'll work in a rotor wing or fixed wing aircraft, often racing against weather and time to reach patients who need intervention fast. It's not a desk job. It's not even a ground ambulance shift. • In flight patient assessment and care. Monitor vitals, start IVs, administer medications ; everything you'd do in an ICU but with turbulence.
• Coordinate with ground crews and hospital staff. You're the link between the scene and the trauma center. Clear communication matters every time.
• Operate advanced medical equipment under stress. Ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps ; it's all part of your daily toolkit up there.
• Make rapid triage decisions. Not every call is life or death, but some are. You'll decide what needs to happen now versus what can wait until landing.
• Document everything thoroughly. Charts don't fill themselves, and accurate records protect everyone involved.

• Certification as a Paramedic (NRP required). Additional credentials like FP C or CCP C are strongly preferred ; many employers in Boise, ID expect them within the first year.
• A minimum of three years' experience on a 911 ambulance service. Flight isn't a starter role; you need to know street medicine before you take it airborne.
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable record, plus the ability to lift at least 100 pounds repeatedly during training evolutions. Physical fitness matters more than most people realize ; this job will test your core strength and stamina every shift.
