This travel SLP position places you in clinical settings across the Birmingham, AL area, working with diverse patient populations on a contract basis. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, documenting progress meticulously.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists.
  • Educate patients' families and caregivers on therapy techniques and home programs.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently across various settings like schools, hospitals, or skilled nursing facilities.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • A current state license to practice in Birmingham, AL is mandatory before starting any assignment.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC SLP) from ASHA is strongly preferred.
  • You need solid clinical skills honed through recent experience; new grads typically won't have the autonomy this role requires.
  • The job involves standing for extended periods and moving equipment; you must be able to lift 25 pounds.

What It's Like In This Role

Expect to walk into a new facility every few months. You'll quickly learn their documentation systems; think tools like Casamba or NetHealth; and integrate with existing rehab teams. Your schedule is full time, usually weekdays, but the specific hours can vary by placement. It's independent work; you own your caseload and decisions while having peer support onsite.

Schedule & Work Type
