
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this role. It's a Shift Lead position at the Sheraton in Birmingham, AL. You're not a manager, but you're the go to person when one isn't on site. You'll run the show for hotel guests and keep things moving smoothly with your team.
What you'll do
The core of it is making sure every guest has a great experience from start to finish. You'll work right alongside your coworkers to make that happen.
- You’ll be the point person for coordinating tasks and handling some administrative duties under the Account Manager’s direction.
- If something urgent comes up, you’re expected to use your judgment to handle it. For less critical issues, you gather the facts and report them to the manager for guidance.
- A big part of your day is maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor with everyone; guests, client staff, and your team. You need to acknowledge and greet guests within 30 seconds of their arrival.
- You’ll open vehicle and hotel doors, check in arriving guests, and explain our parking procedures.
- Safely park and retrieve guest vehicles.
- Handle guest complaints or tricky situations calmly and accurately, even when things get busy.
- Use proper phone etiquette. When you're not directly assisting a guest, you'll be posted in designated areas ready to help.
- Provide bell services, including room presentations for guests. Assist with delivering or picking up items from rooms.
- Help guests with directions, taxi requests, reservations, or other questions. You’ll need to know the hotel layout; outlets, meeting rooms, amenities; and local attractions like the back of your hand.
The schedule & pay
The schedule includes weekdays, weekends, holidays; all shifts are possible here. The starting pay range is $12 to $13 per hour in base pay. On top of that, there's tip potential adding another $4 to $9 per hour.
