The Gig

US Foods is hiring a CDL Driver for their operation in Birmingham, AL. This isn't just another driving job. You'll be hauling a mix of meats, produce, frozen goods, and dry food products between our dispatch sites. It's a Sunday through Thursday schedule, starting after 7pm and running until the work's done. If you want some overtime, there might be Friday shifts available too.

What You'll Do

  • Safely operate tractor trailers to and from remote dispatch locations
  • Step in for Backhaul or Delivery Driver duties when needed
  • Complete all pre trip and post trip equipment inspections
  • Drive in inclement weather ; rain, snow, whatever comes

What You Need

  • A valid CDL Class A issued by your state of legal residence, with all required endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • At least 6 months of commercial driving experience ; that's a hard requirement
  • A doubles endorsement on your license; ideally you've got at least 6 months of actual doubles driving under your belt
  • Must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse (if you haven't done it yet, head over to https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register)
  • You're at least 21 years old
  • Comfortable working overnight hours ; this isn't a 9 to 5 thing
  • Able to read and speak English well enough to understand highway signs, answer official questions, and fill out reports
  • A manual transmission? That's preferred but not required everywhere; check with the specific location in Birmingham, AL.
