About This Role

The Job

O'Reilly Automotive Stores in Birmingham, AL needs an Assistant Store Manager. You'll work right alongside the Store Manager, covering sales, customer service, store appearance, and the daily operations. When the Store Manager is off or working a different shift, you're the one running the place. You'll also lead the store team to make sure every customer ; retail and professional ; gets solid service. Bilingual candidates? We'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Lead the store team in delivering excellent customer service to both retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise the retail showroom; make sure your team is executing all the customer service programs ; things like Related Sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, and Rock the Lot.
  • Partner with the Store Manager to keep the sales counter staffed right, especially during peak hours like lunch, late afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Help the Store Manager set goals for team members, give them feedback on how they're doing, coach and mentor them, and check that everyone is staying current on their individual training.
  • Assist with hiring ; that means completing recruiting tasks, scheduling and sitting in on interviews, evaluating candidates, and working with management to pick the right people.
  • Make sure the phone is answered according to company policy.
  • Handle buy online/ship to store orders, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders ; process them quickly and contact customers when stuff arrives.
  • Use the electronic outside purchase order ledger to keep special orders and outside purchases running smooth and by the book.
  • Process retail customer returns and exchanges in a friendly, efficient way. Issue refunds with the right payment methods. Get returned merchandise staged in the returns area correctly.
  • Make sure every piece of merchandise ; including core charges and warranties ; is invoiced before it leaves the store.
  • Communicate Zipline messages and delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks until they're done.
  • Enforce company policies: team members must stick to their posted work schedule, get management approval for any changes, and clock in and out properly.
  • Handle all store opening and closing duties ; day end procedures, securing money and deposits per policy, preparing bank deposits, turning on night security lights, locking up, arming and disarming alarms, and securing delivery vehicles.
  • Help the Store Manager keep the store building, parking lot, exterior signs and lights, computer hardware, in store service and test equipment, and delivery vehicles in good shape.
  • Other duties as they come up.

What You Need

  • Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification, and RSS Certification ; all required.
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification and ASE Certification are desired, not required.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus; Spanish is highly desired.
