Warehouse Supervisor
About This Role
The Opportunity
This is a hands on leadership role at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, one of the top private companies in the country and a family owned business that's been around since 1933. You'd be a Day Warehouse Supervisor (Mid Shift) in Baton Rouge, LA, running the show on a high volume warehouse floor. It's not just about overseeing people ; you're also shaping how inventory moves through the facility, making sure everything flows safely and efficiently.
What you'll actually do
- Lead and supervise the replenishment team, making sure all their tasks are done accurately and on time
- Make sure everyone follows the company's policies on operations, inventory control, safety, and service
- Coach, train, and develop associates so they perform at their best and grow in their roles
- Set productivity expectations, track performance metrics, and keep pushing for improvement
- Spot opportunities where associates can develop and where operations can run better
- Keep the warehouse a safe place to work and enforce all safety standards
- Tackle whatever extra duties pop up to support warehouse operations
What makes this role different
You're not just supervising ; you're also making strategic calls about where products live in the warehouse. That means analyzing inventory flow, demand forecasts, and data to figure out the best SKU placement. You'll position high frequency and heavy items at accessible heights to improve ergonomics and safety. And you'll tweak those locations based on seasonal trends, new product introductions, and which products naturally go together.
What you need to bring
- At least 3 years of related experience (or a combo of education and work experience that adds up)
- A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not a must
- Comfort with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Microsoft Excel, and ideally slotting or AI driven optimization tools
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage your time well
- Knowledge of warehouse layouts, picking methods, and how replenishment works
The physical side of things
You'll be on your feet a lot ; walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching. And you need to be okay working at heights of 8 feet or more. During busy periods, you'll work extended hours, and you might need to be flexible with overnight or early morning shifts. You'll also lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.
Benefits worth talking about
Full time employees get a solid benefits package here. That includes medical and prescription drug coverage, dental and vision plans, tax saving Flexible Spending Accounts, disability coverage, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
