About This Role
Job Overview
This is a Photographer / Stylist role in Bakersfield, CA. You'll handle both sides of the creative process. One day you're behind the lens, locking in focus and composition. The next you're hands on with props, fabric, and lighting setups to get the scene right. It's a hybrid position for people who think visually and move fast.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Shoot commercial or editorial content. That means portraits, product shots, or lifestyle imagery depending on the client brief.
- Style each setup from scratch. Wardrobe selection, prop placement, background textures ; it's all on your plate.
- Direct subjects on set. You'll guide models or talent through poses and expressions while holding creative vision steady.
- Manage digital asset workflow. Culling selects, basic color corrections, and handing off final files to producers or art directors.
- Tear down and reset quickly. Multiple looks per shoot means efficiency matters as much as artistry does.
Requirements
- Two years minimum experience shooting with mirrorless or DSLR systems ; Sony E mount or Canon EF preferred but not required if you bring a strong book.
- A solid portfolio showing both photography and styling work. We need to see that you coordinate outfits AND nail exposure consistently.
- Basic knowledge of Capture One or Lightroom Classic for tethering and raw processing on set. Speed matters here: tethered shoots don't wait for slow edits.
- The physical part isn't optional: lifting gear cases up to forty pounds, crouching low for angles, standing eight hour days during production runs. You need real stamina for this workday rhythm in Bakersfield, CA environments where studio spaces aren't always elevator friendly.
