
About This Role
VP of Operations
Goodwin Recruiting represents a national commercial landscaping company that's growing fast. They need a real operations leader to run the show across their whole footprint ; not just one region, but multiple branches nationwide.
This is a senior role. If you've got a decade or more of operations leadership specifically in commercial landscaping (or something closely related like facilities services with multi site labor crews), this could be it.
What you'll actually be doing
Running day to day operations across several regions and branches. Making sure every location executes the same high standards for maintenance, enhancement, irrigation, snow removal, and specialty services. You're the person who sets the KPIs and holds people to them ; safety, quality, labor efficiency, retention, customer satisfaction, and EBITDA.
You'll own the operational P&L, working with finance and regional leaders to build annual plans, budgets, and forecasts. Find cost savings that don't hurt service quality. That's the balance.
Building people matters here. You'll coach and develop Regional Directors, General Managers, and Branch Managers. Create real accountability around safety and continuous improvement. Also handle succession planning and talent retention so the company doesn't keep losing its best people.
Safety isn't just a checkbox. You'll champion a strong safety culture, enforce OSHA and DOT compliance, and work to reduce incidents and claims through training and real accountability.
Standardize processes across the organization ; operations, systems, best practices. Partner with HR, Sales, and IT to improve onboarding, CRM and ERP adoption, and day to day workflows. And when the company acquires a new branch, you'll lead the integration to bring them up to standards.
Make sure national, regional, and local commercial clients get consistent, high quality service. Work with sales and account management to keep those clients renewing and growing.
Who you are
You've got at least 10 years of progressive operations leadership in commercial landscaping. Not adjacent. Not close enough. This specific industry.
You've led large teams that are spread out geographically ; multiple states, multiple branches. You understand what it takes to get consistent performance from people you don't see every day.
Financial chops are non negotiable. You've managed multi million dollar P&Ls and can talk margins, cost controls, and EBITDA without breaking a sweat.
You've got a track record of actually improving operations, expanding margins, and scaling a business. Not just maintaining the status quo.
Experience with acquisitions and integration is preferred but not required.
Bachelor's degree is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
You'll travel regularly. This is a national role, so expect to be on the road visiting branches and regions.
