About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this travel role. It's with Ascension's Associate Travel Program for their Cardiac Cath Labs in Austin, TX. You'd be working at a few different acute care hospitals there. The schedule is 40 hours a week, but the specific shift isn't set; they have multiple options. You need to be available for call.
The Pay & The Program
The gross weekly pay goes up to $3,500. This is a travel assignment through their internal program, so you're an Ascension employee from day one, not a contractor from an outside agency. They're a big nonprofit Catholic health system; they've been recognized as a top place to work in healthcare and as a military friendly employer.
What You'd Be Doing
- Assist with diagnostic and treatment procedures in the cath lab.
- Your day involves reviewing patient histories and getting testing sites ready.
- You'll interpret test results, correct any recording errors, and keep an eye on patients for anything unusual before, during, and after procedures.
- A big part of the job is making sure your lab space and equipment are clean, organized, and working right. If something's broken, you report it and handle lock out/tag out procedures.
What You Need to Have
Education & Experience: You need one of these three: a high school diploma plus 2 years of relevant experience; an Associate's or Technical degree; or 4 years of applicable, specific job experience.
Certifications (Required): You must get your BLS Provider certification within your first month; they accept it from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. You also need at least one of these credentials before your start date:
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist from CCI.
- Cardiographic Tech from CCI.
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography from ARRT.
- Cardiac Sonographer from ARDMS.
Preferences: It's preferred if you have Advanced Life Support certification (AHA or Red Cross) and what they call an "Approved Local Exception." They'd also really like someone with at least 1 year of recent experience specifically as a Cardiovascular Technician.
The Benefits They Offer
- A full package for health: medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage. HSA and FSA options are there too.
- A 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match. They also offer disability and life insurance.
- Paid time off that's pro rated for this role, plus holidays.
- A program called Vocare covers tuition costs for certain things. There's reimbursement available too, along with professional development resources.
- Support programs include counseling, spiritual care services, stress management resources, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Family benefits cover parental leave and adoption assistance.
- A few other optional things like legal insurance or pet insurance might be available.
A quick note: Which benefits you can get depends on your position, scheduled hours, and location. All this is subject to change; the recruiter will give you the final details if you move forward in the process.
