Team Lead
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Nurse Supervisor role at Encompass Health in Austin, TX. I've been placing people here for years, and they run a serious operation. It's inpatient rehab, which is its own world; you're guiding patients through some of the toughest recoveries of their lives. This isn't just passing meds; it's about leading the team that makes those recovery milestones happen.
What You'll Be Doing
You're the go to person on your shift. You'll supervise all nursing care, treatments, and services for your unit. Think of yourself as the central link between the hospital administration, the nursing management team, and the staff on the floor.
- Help develop and put into action those personalized patient care programs.
- The staff on your shift report to you. That means giving real time feedback, handling annual evaluations, and stepping in with coaching or discipline when it's needed.
- You're not just managing from an office. You'll jump in to provide direct patient care yourself.
- A big part of the job is connecting with patients. Taking time to really understand where they're at; physically, mentally, emotionally; is what sets a successful recovery apart.
- And you get to celebrate the wins with them. Those victories are everything.
What You Need to Bring
They need an RN who knows how a hospital runs and isn't afraid to lead. Here's the checklist:
- Current RN license for the state.
- Your BLS certification is required from day one.
- You'll need to get your ACLS certification within the first year in the role.
- They also want you to get your Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification within a year of meeting the eligibility requirements.
- For experience, we're talking two years recently in an inpatient hospital setting. "Recently" means within the last five years.
- They need someone who's already held a leadership spot before. A charge nurse role or something similar where you were responsible for reporting, solving problems on the fly, directing staff, and being accountable for patient and team outcomes.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred, but not an absolute deal breaker if your experience is solid.
The Schedule & The Environment
This is a full time position on the inpatient rehab unit. You'll be working day shifts. The specifics? It’s 40 hours every week with rotating weekends. You need to be ready for that rhythm.
The Good Stuff (Benefits)
The benefits start on your very first day. That's rare and it matters.
- Medical, dental, and vision plans that are actually affordable for you and your family if you're full time or part time.
- Paid time off that builds up as you're here.
- They help with tuition and continuing education so you can keep growing professionally.
- A 401(k) plan with a company match plus an employee stock purchase plan for longer term goals like retirement planning or financial security down road .
