About This Role

The role

This is a Respiratory Therapist position at St. David's Medical Center in Austin, TX. You'll guide patients through routine care and handle critical moments. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are part of the job, and you'll manage both invasive and noninvasive ventilation across different care settings. You'll have access to advanced respiratory technology and mentorship from experienced RT leaders, plus a dependable team that backs you up. What you'll actually do

  • Assess respiratory status with focused exams; interpret breath sounds and airway patency, then figure out what interventions are needed.
  • Deliver evidence based therapy ; oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques ; across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
  • Manage ventilation and airways: assist with artificial airway placement, start and adjust invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitor how patients respond, and react fast when things change or emergencies happen.
  • Support patients and the care team by educating patients and families. You'll be a clinical resource, partner with physicians and nurses, and help stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
  • Maintain equipment and safety ; set up, operate, and clean respiratory gear. Keep everything ready with preventive maintenance, transport ventilated patients safely, and follow every infection prevention standard.

Qualifications you need

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 1 year of your start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/RCP State)
  • Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner license
  • An Associate Degree or a Bachelor's Degree
