About This Role
What you'll do here
You're the RN in our outpatient psychiatry clinic at Dell Medical School, based in Austin, TX. It's a busy place where you work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and admin staff. The Clinic Supervisor is who you report to. Your job is making sure every patient gets solid nursing care and leaves satisfied.
You'll handle initial assessments and take medical histories. You build care plans from scratch for each person and keep tweaking them as they improve. Medications are a big part of it ; you administer them, check dosages, watch for bad reactions, and report anything off. You also teach patients and families about their conditions, treatment options, and how to take care of themselves at home. Follow up education sessions happen when needed.
On the clinical side, you do minor procedures like wound care and suture removal. You help doctors with diagnostic tests and minor surgeries. Keeping things sterile is on you too. Documentation goes into the EHR system. You coordinate with the whole healthcare team so nothing falls through the cracks, plus manage appointments and follow ups.
