Patient Access Specialist
About This Role
What This Role is Really About
This isn't a job where you just punch a clock. It’s a chance to lead with your heart while keeping everything running smoothly at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Austin, TX. You’ll be the person bridging the gap between the admin team, nursing management, and the staff on the floor. You’re not just supervising; you’re shaping the care people get every day. That means you’ll help design patient care programs, write policies, and make sure procedures actually work in real life. You’ll also manage the team ; giving on the spot feedback, doing annual evaluations, and handling performance issues when they come up. And when the unit needs you, you’ll step in and take patient care yourself. You’ll build real relationships with patients, learning what they need physically, mentally, and emotionally to recover. You’ll celebrate their wins alongside them.
Who You Are
You’ve been a nurse long enough to know the ropes, and you’ve stepped into leadership before ; maybe as a charge nurse or a team lead. You’ve handled the tough stuff: interim reporting, solving problems on the fly, setting direction, and owning the results for both patients and staff. You hold a current RN license under state regulations. You’ve got BLS certification already, and you’re ready to get your ACLS within your first year. You’ll also need to become CRRN certified within a year of meeting eligibility. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or something related is preferred, but not required. You’ve got at least two years of recent inpatient hospital experience (within the last five years). And you’ve held a role before where people counted on you to lead.
What You’ll Get From Us
We don’t make you wait for benefits. They start on day one. Here’s what that looks like:
- Medical, dental, and vision plans that are affordable for both full time and part time employees and their families.
- Generous paid time off that builds up over time.
- Tuition reimbursement and ongoing education options to keep growing in your career.
- A 401(k) with company match and an employee stock purchase plan to help you build financial security.
- Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts designed around your needs.
- And a group of people who actually care about the work they do.
A Few Details
We’ve been named one of the "World’s Most Admired Companies" and earned a spot on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list. That's not just a plaque on the wall ; it reflects how we treat each other. You’ll be part of a national inpatient rehabilitation leader that’s growing, not shrinking. And the culture here? It’s supportive, team driven, and leaves room for joy at work.
How to Apply
Send us your application. We’ll review it and reach out if it looks like a good fit. No cover letter required, but make sure your resume reflects your RN license and leadership experience. We’re serious about finding the right person ; and we hope that’s you.
