About This Role

Here's the deal on this PRN night shift RN role in the Medical Oncology Chemotherapy unit at Ascension St. Vincent in Austin, TX. It's not your standard bedside gig; you're in the mix with patients undergoing some of their toughest treatments.

What You'll Be Doing

You're providing direct patient care for individuals receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy. That means you're the one safely administering those drugs, monitoring for side effects, and watching closely for any allergic reactions.

  • Managing different vascular access devices like PICC lines and PortaCaths.
  • You'll handle blood draws and work with infusion technology.
  • A big part of the job is following strict protocols for the safe handling of cytotoxic agents.

What You Need to Have

Let's talk credentials and education. These aren't just preferences; they're what you need to walk in with or get very quickly.

  • A Registered Nurse license from the Indiana Board of Nursing. You must have this before your start date.
  • A BLS Provider certification, from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. You've got 30 days from hire or transfer to get this one.
  • A Chemotherapy certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). You need to obtain this within 6 months of starting.
  • For education, a diploma from an accredited nursing school/college is required. Or, you must have your required professional licensure at the time of hire.
