Multi-Modality Technologist
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Multi Modality Technologist spot at St. David's ER Center in Austin, TX. It's a full time gig, and honestly, it's for someone who already knows their stuff in one area and is ready to learn another. You're not starting from scratch here.
What you'll be doing
You'll be the person running the show for imaging procedures on patients of all ages, from newborns up. A big part of this is communicating clearly and working independently to get it done right.
- You need solid; and ideally, expert; knowledge in your primary modality.
- The work involves prioritizing and providing quality patient care that lines up with the facility's mission.
- Keeping everything technically sound and documented properly is key; you'll maintain standards consistent with JCAHO regulations.
- How you interact matters. We're looking for someone who shows genuine concern and consideration with patients, medical staff, and other employees.
- This role requires independent critical thinking. You're accountable for your own work and your contributions to the team.
What you need to bring
The baseline is that you're a graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology. From there, the specifics are pretty clear.
- Credentials: You must have at least two of these current certifications from ARRT: (R), (VI), (CV), or (MRI). If you're cross training into CT or MRI/Vascular, there are timelines: ARRT (CT) certification is required within six months of your cross training start date; ARRT (VI), (CV), or (MRI) certification is required within one year.
- Required Certification: A current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification through the AHA or ARC is mandatory.
- Experience: Two years of previous diagnostic experience in an acute care facility is what they're looking for. You should be familiar with most diagnostic radiology procedures.
- The job demands a high degree of manual dexterity and mental skill to operate the equipment and care for patients safely. You've got to be capable of applying those technical skills across all patient age groups.
The practical details
The degree of supervision here is minimal; they expect you to be able to work independently. There's a standard 60 day orientation period, but it can be longer depending on your experience; that’s determined by the department director.
