Mammography Technologist

Ascension·Austin, TX

About This Role

Mammography Technologist

This is a full time, day shift position at Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX. You'd work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

What you'd be doing here

You're the person running the mammography equipment and making sure patients feel comfortable and informed. It's a hands on clinical role where precision and care go together.

  • Perform high quality diagnostic mammograms, which means getting patient positioning and technical settings right every time.
  • Your job includes explaining procedures clearly to patients and talking with them about the importance of mammography for their health.
  • You'll use electronic health record systems to manage clinical documentation and verify all images meet strict quality standards.
  • Work closely with the radiology team and other staff to follow all radiation safety rules and quality guidelines.
  • A big part of the work is handling the mammography equipment itself, then submitting the final images and patient history into the PACS network.

The credentials you need to bring

These aren't just checkboxes; they're what let you do the job safely and legally. Make sure you have these or can get them quickly.

  • A High School diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of relevant experience. An Associate's or Technical degree also works, or 4 years of specific job experience.
  • Your BLS Provider certification (from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross) has to be obtained within your first month here.
  • You must already hold a Radiologic Technologist credential from the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • A Texas state license is required; specifically, a Radiologic Technologist credential in General Practice from the Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification Program.
  • Within 90 days of starting, you need to complete a federally approved 40 hour mammography training course and log 25 supervised mammography studies. That's a Texas Department of State Health Services rule.
  • It'd be great if you already had an ARRT Mammography specialty credential, but it's not a must have to apply.
