Engineering Director

The Role

White Lodging Services Corporation is looking for an Engineering Director to lead at the Westin Austin Downtown in Austin, TX. This is a hands on leadership role where you'll own the engineering function for the property. You won't just manage a team; you'll build it, mentor it, and set the technical direction.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement long term engineering strategies that align with both White Lodging's goals and the property's objectives.
• Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high performing engineering team. You're building the crew, not just running the schedule.
• Ensure technical excellence, safety compliance, and quality standards across every engineering function in the building.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects on time and within budget.
• Manage department budgets, labor, equipment, and resources. The numbers are your responsibility from day one.
• Direct preventive maintenance programs to protect the asset and improve reliability over time.
• Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Desk, F&B, Sales, and other departments so operations stay aligned.
• Make sure the property stays compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations, plus brand standards.
• Provide hands on leadership, troubleshooting, and technical guidance when the team needs it most.
• Drive continuous improvement in energy management, sustainability, and life safety systems.

What You'll Bring

• Engineering leadership experience, ideally within hospitality. That's preferred but not a hard requirement.
• A proven ability to lead, develop, and manage engineering teams through real situations and daily challenges.
• Strong project management and organizational skills that keep multiple moving parts in sync.
• Excellent written and verbal communication. You'll be in front of people a lot.
• Experience working with union labor contracts is preferred, where applicable.
• Required licenses or certifications such as HVACR, EPA, Certified Pool Operator, or something similar.
• Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage a budget effectively.
