Clinical Support Specialist
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Clinical Support Coordinator at St. David's South Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX. This isn't a bedside nursing gig; it's the person who helps the nurses at the bedside get better at what they do. You're the go to mentor for new grads and nurses moving into a new specialty. Think of it as being the clinical coach who helps shape how care is delivered, not by doing it yourself, but by making sure the team doing it is confident, skilled, and safe.
What you'll be doing
Your main focus is on the floor support and development. You're not stuck in an office.
- You'll round on the nursing units to observe, offer real time coaching, and reinforce quality practices right when they matter.
- A big part of your day is guiding new or transitioning nurses. That means helping them develop clinical judgment, plan care, and understand when and how to escalate concerns.
- When things get intense; like during a rapid response or code; you're there to provide hands on support. Afterward, you lead the debrief to turn those critical moments into learning opportunities.
- You'll teach, demonstrate, and troubleshoot essential nursing skills. You're also identifying common gaps in knowledge so we can strengthen our training programs overall.
- Reinforcing safety standards and communication best practices (like AIDET or Teach Back) is part of the fabric of the role.
- You'll partner directly with unit leaders to support nurse growth, improve daily practice, and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork.
