Cardiovascular ICU RN

What you'll do

This role is on the Cardiology Services unit at Dell Children's Medical Center. You'll be the RN coordinating care for some pretty complex patients in the Cardiovascular ICU. Your day won't look like anyone else's, and that's the point.

You'll deliver direct nursing care following organizational protocols, but you'll also build and monitor custom care plans for each patient. You're the hub connecting every medical discipline involved. That means you're tracking physician orders, making sure they get executed on time, and keeping everything from getting disjointed.

Patient safety sits squarely on your shoulders. You'll watch for changes in condition, document everything accurately, and speak up fast when something doesn't look right. You'll also lead discharge planning. That's not a simple handoff conversation. It's coordinating with the whole inter professional team to get a fragile patient from the hospital bed to home safely.

Schedule

Monday through Friday. Four 10 hour shifts each week, rotating days. Shift hours run from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What you'll need

• A diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing. Professional licensure at hire works too.
• Registered Nurse license from the Texas Board of Nursing. You need this before your start date.
• BLS Provider certification. You can get it within 30 days of hire or job transfer. Only American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

What they're looking for

• A BSN is preferred but not required.
• Congenital heart experience is strongly desired. If you've worked with these kids before, say so.
