Travel Nurse

Atlanta, GA

About This Role

Job Overview

This is a travel nursing position. You know the drill, but let's talk about this one specifically. It means you're going to work a contract in Atlanta, GA, providing patient care in a facility that needs your skills for a set period. The environment changes with each assignment, and that's the whole point. You'll be the new expert in the room, adapting quickly and making an impact from day one.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your core tasks will look familiar, but every hospital or clinic has its own rhythm. Here’s what you can generally expect to handle.

  • Direct patient assessment, monitoring, and care planning.
  • Medication administration and IV therapy.
  • A big one: thorough documentation and charting per facility protocols.
  • You’ll collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff on treatment plans.
  • Patient and family education is part of the deal, helping them understand next steps.
  • Responding to changes in patient condition, sometimes urgently.

Requirements

They aren't just checking boxes here. They need someone who can walk in and own it.

  • A current, unencumbered RN license for the state where Atlanta, GA is situated is non negotiable. You'll need to get that sorted before starting.
  • At least two years of recent experience in an acute care hospital setting. ICU, ER, Med Surg; it depends on the specific contract need.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS or other specialties are a huge plus.
  • The mental stamina for new systems and faces every few months. It’s not for everyone.
  • You have to be physically able to be on your feet for 12 hour shifts, with all the lifting and moving that entails.

What It's Like In This Role

I've placed a lot of travel nurses, so I'll give it to you straight. You're jumping into an established team as the temporary fixer. Some days you feel like a superhero; other days you're just trying to find the supply closet. You'll use whatever EMR system the facility uses; maybe Epic one assignment, Cerner the next. The schedule is typically full time hours across night or day shifts, often three 12s. It's intense while you're there, but then you get that block of time completely off before the next adventure.

Why You'll Like This Opportunity

The obvious perk is seeing new places while working; Atlanta, GA could be your home base for a while. But beyond that? The variety keeps your clinical skills sharp in ways a permanent job sometimes doesn't. You learn how different places solve the same problems. And financially, it often works out well when housing stipends are factored in. It’s a unique way to grow your career without being tied down.

Schedule & Work Type

This is a full time contract position requiring you to be onsite at the healthcare facility in Atlanta, GA. Shifts are usually 12 hours, rotating between days and nights based on what's available for the contract length (typically 13 weeks). There’s no remote work here; it's hands on bedside care.
