About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this mammography role at Emory in Atlanta, GA. I've been placing techs here for years, and their team is solid. This isn't just about taking images; it's about being the person a patient trusts during a vulnerable time. You're the expert in the room, from the routine screening to the more complex procedures.
What you'll do
You'll handle care for adult and geriatric patients needing mammograms and related breast procedures. Your day starts with a review; you'll look at the radiology request, dig into the patient's history and diagnosis, and check the physician's orders.
Then you meet your patient. You assess their physical needs, look over any existing diagnostic data, and have a conversation with them and their family. It's on you to prioritize imaging needs for your assigned patients and collaborate with the rest of the health team to figure out care priorities.
- Identify complex patient issues related to symptoms or unusual test results.
- Evaluate how patients respond during and after procedures.
- Your number one priority is safety. You'll practice strict radiation protection to minimize exposure for everyone.
- If you see a safety issue, you flag it for your supervisor immediately.
- The goal is seamless, high quality care through good judgment and continuous assessment.
What you need to bring
First off, you need to be a graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and hold that ARRT registration. They're also looking for at least two years of general experience, with one full year specifically in Mammography.
- A current Advanced certification in Mammography is required.
- You must have an active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification following American Heart Association guidelines.
The schedule involves shift work; they need coverage across all shifts; and you'll rotate through holidays and weekends. This position could be at any of their Atlanta, GA locations.
