
General/Operations Manager

This is a General Manager role with CheckSmart in Atlanta, GA. You'd be running the daily show at one of our stores ; making sure customers get solid financial solutions and your team hits its goals. It's a hands on job where you're in the mix, not stuck in an office. You'll manage operations, coach your people, and keep the store compliant and profitable. We train you up with real coaching, exposure to executives, and development programs that actually go somewhere. If you like driving results and building people up, this is the spot.
What You'll Actually Do
- Run the store to meet or beat company performance standards ; that's your main job.
- Coach and develop every team member on systems, company standards, account management, recovery (collections), job duties, and performance reports. You're the one building new business and growing the store.
- Lead your team to find local marketing opportunities, partner with other businesses, get referrals, and host community events and in store events to drive growth and revenue.
- Examine, evaluate, and process loan and pawn applications and all related transactions. You'll assess risk within the limits we set.
- Make sure everyone follows quality standards, procedures, and all local and state laws and regulations.
- Participate in audits and compliance reviews when the corporate office or your District Manager asks.
- Keep the store secure ; that means cash management, loss prevention, and verifying things like customer IDs, check amounts, and financial documents to prevent fraud.
What You Need to Bring
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of proven success in a supervisory or leadership role in retail, finance, service, or a related industry.
- Operations experience in a leadership capacity.
- Good verbal and written communication skills ; you'll be talking to customers, your team, and corporate.
- You're comfortable with phones, Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office, and other standard tools.
- A valid driver's license, auto insurance, and your own car to use during the workday (mileage is compensated).
- You must be at least 18 years old (19 in Alabama).
- Background check is required. We run them and consider results per applicable law.
- Physically, you'll be on your feet up to 90% of the time. You'll move and carry up to 25 pounds, move inside and outside the store, and use things like keyboards and other mechanical controls.
Nice to Have
- An associate's degree or higher.
- Experience with check cashing, document verification, or money order processing.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus and might be required for some locations.
Pay
Hourly rate is $19.25 to $24.00, and you're eligible for performance bonuses on top of that. That base pay is one piece of your total compensation package.
