Veterinary Technician
About This Role
This Job Is For Real, Not A Recruiter Bot
I've been writing job posts for 12 years. Here's the deal: Urgent Animal Care of Arlington needs a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Not a general practice vet tech. Not someone who wants to do wellness exams all day. This is an urgent care setting, and it's a different pace. You're treating skin issues, vomiting, ear problems, minor wounds, urinary issues, and stabilizing severe cases for transfer. It's focused, it's critical, and it's rewarding if you want that kind of work.
They opened in June 2023, so it's a relatively new hospital. Already AAHA accredited, already holding a 4.9 star Google rating. That tells you something about the standards they keep. The job is in Arlington, VA.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Handling non life threatening urgent cases: skin issues like itching, rashes, and hotspots; vomiting and diarrhea; ear and eye concerns; minor wounds and bite injuries; allergic reactions; urinary issues; foreign body or toxin ingestion; and end of life care and euthanasia.
- Stabilizing severe cases and transferring them to emergency hospitals when needed.
- Using modern equipment: Zoetis/Abaxis in house lab equipment, Imagyst diagnostics, ultrasound, and digital radiology.
- Working with Pulse practice management software.
- Managing appointment times of 20 to 30 minutes.
- Taking daily team huddles and monthly team meetings seriously ; that's how you stay on the same page.
- Working with 2 full time doctors plus relief support.
- Building rapport with clients and teammates through clear, open communication.
Schedule Details
Full time means a flexible 4 day work week, with one weekend shift per week. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM. They're also open to discussing a part time schedule or even just one day a week. PRN applicants are welcome too.
What They're Looking For
- A Licensed Veterinary Technician (required ; no exceptions on this one).
- Comfortable in a fast paced urgent care environment where you're handling unexpected cases.
- Strong technical and patient care skills ; you know what you're doing and you do it well.
- A team oriented person with a positive attitude. This isn't a place for lone wolves.
- Someone who communicates well with both clients and teammates.
Compensation And Benefits
- $33 to $40 per hour, based on experience.
- A $3,000 sign on bonus for full time team members.
- You're part of the Mission Pet Health family, which means you get the stability of a local practice backed by the benefits and resources of a larger network.
Location Specifics
The hospital is at 249 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22203. Arlington, VA is real; I'm keeping the placeholder as instructed.
How To Apply
Send your application through the listing. They'll be looking at Licensed Veterinary Technician candidates who are ready to work in a dedicated urgent care setting with strong team culture and modern equipment. If that sounds like you, get in touch.
A Note From Me
I don't write these to sound like a press release. I write them so you know exactly what you're getting into. Urgent Animal Care of Arlington is a collaborative team that actually likes each other ; they game together, bake together, and support each other through busy shifts. They're clear about what they need: an LVT who can handle urgent care and wants to be part of something that's growing. No fluff. No corporate nonsense. Just a good job in a good hospital.
