The Job
Surgery Center of Anchorage is looking for a Surgical Technologist in Anchorage, AK. You'd be working under a Registered Nurse, helping with safe and effective patient care inside the operating room. It's a role where what you do directly affects each case ; from the setup to the close.
What You'll Actually Do
- Show the practical and technical skills a surgical technician needs, following the Association of Surgical Technologists standards.
- Get the operative suite ready for surgery ; check and gather supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Keep surgical asepsis going with instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings.
- Turn over the O.R. suites between cases ; that means disposing of trash and linens, cleaning equipment and surfaces.
- Prep procedure rooms for the next day: bring in equipment, set up, pull cases accurately, and tell your supervisor what's needed but not available.
- Scrub and assist the surgeon at the operative field.
- Collect and record clinical data in the medical record and work closely with the RN on clinical decisions.
What You Need
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program ; this is required per facility practice and state regulation; otherwise it's preferred.
- One year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
- A valid BCLS Certification when you start. Online certification won't cut it.
