What You'll Do as a Ramp Agent

At Swissport, we handle the ground operations that keep flights running. As a Ramp Agent in Anchorage, AK, you're the person making sure everything underneath the aircraft goes smoothly. This isn't a desk job. You'll be outside, moving fast, and working with your hands.

Your main tasks include marshalling aircraft in and out of gates, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, and operating the equipment that makes it all happen. You'll drive tow tractors, belt loaders, baggage tugs, container loaders, water and lavatory service trucks, ground power units, air start units, air stairs, de icing units, baggage carts, cargo dollies, and passenger vans. You'll also collect and load mail, live animals, wheelchairs, and child strollers onto aircraft.

Other important parts of the job: servicing aircraft water and lavatories, inspecting ramp areas near the gate and aircraft for debris and removing it, and reporting any equipment malfunctions to your supervisor. You'll deliver passenger luggage to the claim area and unload it onto the conveyor system, and deliver air cargo to the right recipient. Special handling of luggage or cargo happens when it's needed, and you'll unload wheelchairs and strollers to a designated spot.

You're expected to comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements. Other duties will come up as needed.

What You Need to Bring

• A valid driver's license.
• You can lift heavy objects up to 70 pounds (32 kilograms).
• You're flexible to work different shifts ; days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• You're comfortable working in inclement weather.
• You have a solid awareness of health and safety.
• Previous ramp experience is a plus, but not required.
• Good communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Creole is a plus.

Pay

The expected pay rate for this role is $20 per hour.
