L&D RN

About This Role

Hey there. I'm putting this listing together for a Labor & Delivery RN role at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, AK. I've been recruiting for them for years, and I can tell you the team on this unit is the real deal. They're close, they're capable, and they genuinely love what they do. If you're an L&D nurse looking for a place where your skills are valued and you're supported like family, this is worth your time.

The Role

You'll be providing direct patient care in their LDRP setting. That means you'll see a patient through labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum all in one place; you really get to know them. The unit averages between 30 to 50 births a month, so there's a good rhythm to it.

Your day involves welcoming each perinatal patient, making them feel secure and confident in the care they're about to receive. You'll assess and plan individualized care, drawing on your clinical expertise across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages. Responding accurately to changes in condition is central to the job. You'll also communicate directly with physicians about fetal monitoring and diagnostic study results.

The work extends beyond LDRP sometimes; you'll perform nursing duties across the Maternal Child health continuum as needed. And you'll have a chance to contribute by participating in department process improvement activities.

What You Need to Bring

  • A current Registered Nurse license from the State of Alaska.
  • At least one year of hands on Labor and Delivery experience is required.
  • You need current BLS/BCLS and ACLS certifications from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification is also required.
  • A S.T.A.B.L.E. certification would be great to have; it's preferred but not required going in.
  • Fetal Monitoring certification is also preferred.

The Details & The Support

This is a full time position with self scheduling to help promote work life balance. The hospital provides strong staffing support specifically for when things get intense. They've invested in technology that streamlines patient monitoring and communication so you can work more efficiently, plus robust supply chains so you're properly equipped.

There's ongoing clinical education available if you want to sharpen your skills further. And look, they back up their talk about support with a substantial benefits package.

Benefits at a Glance

  • A comprehensive medical plan covering prescription drugs, dental, vision, behavioral health, and telemedicine services.
  • Wellbeing support that includes free counseling and referral services.
  • Paid time off programs along with paid family leave options.
  • Short term and long term disability coverage are part of the package too.
  • A 401(k) Plan with a 100% match; they match 3% to 9% of your pay based on how long you've been there.
  • An Employee Stock Purchase Plan is available.
  • Education support through tuition assistance and student loan assistance programs. They also offer certification support and have a partnership with Galen College of Nursing.
  • The list goes on: fertility and family building benefits, adoption assistance, life insurance options, auto and home insurance discounts… it's pretty extensive.
