Field Service Technician

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's not a desk gig. You'll be out in the field, on the road, fixing things that keep businesses moving. If you're the kind of person who'd rather solve a hydraulic issue than fill out a spreadsheet, this might be your spot.

What the Job Is

You're a Field Service Technician for Pape' Material Handling in the Anchorage, AK area. Your main task is keeping material handling equipment; think forklifts and industrial machinery; running perfectly at customer sites. The goal is to prevent breakdowns and maximize uptime for them.

You'll drive a company service vehicle (it comes fully stocked) to different locations every day. A big part of the role is dealing directly with customers; they need to trust you to diagnose the problem correctly and fix it right then and there.

What You Need to Bring

  • A journeyman level skill set for diagnosing and repairing equipment. Experience in material handling is strongly preferred.
  • Your own set of tools.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They need someone who's self motivated.
  • Solid people skills. You're representing the company face to face with customers, so clear communication and good relations are non negotiable.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.
  • Living within the assigned service region around Anchorage, AK is a must.

Got experience with electric forklifts? That's a definite plus.

Schedule & Pay

The pay range is $25.00 to $51.72 per hour. Where you land in that bracket depends entirely on your specific skills, training, and depth of experience.

The Good Stuff (Benefits)

  • Medical, dental, vision, and prescription insurance plans are available.
  • A 401(k) retirement plan with a company match option; there's also a Roth 401(k) option.
  • Life insurance coverage and short term/long term disability insurance.
  • A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health or dependent care expenses.
  • A generous vacation plan that starts at 80 hours per year (prorated in your first year based on your start date). The amount of vacation you get increases as your seniority with the company grows.
  • Sick leave that accrues at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
  • 7 paid holidays annually.
  • Tuition reimbursement if you pursue approved training programs.
  • Extensive training, both online and instructor led, when you start and as you grow in your role.
