Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively monitor pool or waterfront areas using established scanning techniques to prevent incidents before they happen.
- Enforce all safety rules firmly and fairly, addressing violations immediately to maintain a controlled environment.
- Perform rescues and provide first aid, CPR, or AED support as needed, following your training protocols exactly.
- Complete daily logs on water chemistry, equipment checks, and incident reports; accuracy here is non negotiable.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, which includes setting up lane lines, cleaning decks, and securing the facility.
Requirements
- A current lifeguarding certification from a recognized provider like the Red Cross or YMCA is mandatory.
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer must be valid and ready to present.
- You need strong swimming skills; expect a pre employment test of swim speed, endurance, and rescue drills.
- The job demands prolonged focus outdoors in various weather conditions and the physical ability to lift over 40 lbs.
- Previous experience at a public pool, beach, or waterpark is a definite plus but not always required for the right candidate.
