NICU RN

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role in Albuquerque, NM. I've been recruiting for these specialized positions for over a decade, and this is a solid opportunity with a group that genuinely seems to have its act together. They're looking for someone who wants to be in the thick of it, providing top tier care to the tiniest patients.

The Work You'll Do

You'd be joining a team of neonatologists and fellow NNPs across several NICUs. The schedule is built around 12 or 24 hour shifts, and you get a real say in building it through their self scheduling system.

  • Your core responsibility is managing the day to day care for babies in the NICU and newborn nursery.
  • You'll attend deliveries to provide immediate stabilization and resuscitation when needed.
  • A big part of the day involves collaborative, multi disciplinary rounds. You're not just giving a report; you're actively planning care, which includes ventilator management, nutrition plans, and reviewing labs.
  • You'll work with some advanced therapies: high frequency ventilation (both HFOV and HFJV), inhaled nitric oxide, and therapeutic hypothermia.
  • Consulting with families is central to the role. You'll be their guide, explaining conditions and care plans clearly and compassionately.
  • The scope includes pediatric surgery cases but not cardiac surgery (except for PDAs) or ECMO.

What You Need to Bring

They're open to new grad NNPs, which tells you they have a support system in place. But you've got to have the right foundation.

  • A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program is non negotiable.
  • You need your RN license and your Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification valid for the state where you'll practice.
  • Current certifications in both Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required before you start.
  • The clinical skills have to be sharp. This isn't a low stakes environment; you need sound judgment when things move fast.
  • You should be comfortable working both independently on your patient load and collaboratively as part of the larger care team. It's a balance.

The Good Stuff That Comes With It

The compensation package here is structured to attract serious talent and make the logistics easier. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • The base salary range is $120,000 to $180,000 per year. Where you land depends on your experience and the specific location within their network.
  • On top of that, there's a sign on bonus available plus potential annual bonuses. They also do annual raises.
  • A full suite of health benefits is included; medical, dental, vision, all of it.
  • They offer paid time off (PTO).
  • A student loan repayment program is part of the package if that applies to you.
  • If you're moving for this role, they provide relocation support. They also cover tail malpractice insurance coverage so you don't have to worry about that later on if you leave them one day.

The environment itself sounds like a big perk: supportive colleagues who actually collaborate on patient care rather than just sharing space at workstations all day long! And they back up professional growth with ongoing development opportunities including CME allowances so staying current isn't something coming out of pocket every single time either!
