An established accounting firm in Albuquerque, NM is looking for a Tax Manager. They've been around since 1978 and built a reputation for taking care of both their clients and their people. This role is fully onsite ; no hybrid or remote options.

What You'll Actually Do
- Oversee tax management across the board ; compliance, reporting, and planning
- Build strategic tax plans that cut liabilities and improve financial efficiency
- Make sure all local, state, and federal returns are filed accurately and on time
- Review tax data thoroughly, prepare necessary paperwork, and coordinate audits
- Stay current on tax laws so the firm stays compliant as things change
- Advise senior management and stakeholders on tax matters
- Work with other departments to sort out tax related issues as they come up
- Manage relationships with external auditors and tax consultants
What You Need to Bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or something related. A Master's or CPA certification is highly desirable.
- At least 5 years of experience in tax management ; ideally within the mortgage industry
- Solid knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- A track record working with high net worth mortgages
- Strong analytical skills for solving complex problems
- The ability to lead a team effectively
- Good communication skills ; you'll be talking to people across the firm
- A comfort level with tax software and standard computer applications
- A commitment to confidentiality and high ethical standards
