About This Role
The Role
You're the person who makes sure the sales force and field sales managers at the branch level actually execute what Enterprise Sales Training programs are designed to do. That means you have deep, real knowledge of the products, services, and sales techniques this company uses. You'll work directly with senior sales managers to steer training programs toward one goal: maximizing sales revenue and profitability. This isn't a role where you follow a script. There's a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected here, as long as your efforts align with Enterprise Sales Training Goals and Objectives. You'll rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish those goals.
What You'll Do Every Day
- Train the sales force and maintain sales facilities, measured by Branch Goals and Initiatives, all consistent with Enterprise Sales Training programs and procedures.
- Present and train using established, effective sales training methods, techniques, and ideas that line up with the ASTD Competency Model.
- Help develop and train new courses tied to the introduction of new products and services. Again, measured by Branch Goals and Initiatives.
- Constantly improve the sales training process itself. Measured by those same Branch Goals and Initiatives.
- Prepare the department budget and be accountable for the return on training investment. You'll track new hire contribution and how well associates you trained stick around.
- Develop assessment tools for new and existing sales associates and District Sales Managers.
- Define core sales competencies and thresholds to standards in sales support associates. Identify gaps and train people up to those standards.
- Handle the administrative side of Sales Training. That means managing the training calendar, building agendas, creating presentations, ordering supplies, printing class materials, booking meeting rooms, communicating with participants, coordinating tours and presentations from subject matter experts, ordering beverages and coordinating meals, setting up projectors, flip charts, and any other training support materials needed.
- Find and leverage subject matter experts to make peer led and peer assisted training engaging and effective.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Bring
- A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university is preferred. But we'll also take an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of industry trainer experience.
- Five years of sales management experience.
- A proven ability to make change happen: identify opportunities, research solutions, request resources, and sustain results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- You can calculate figures like discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. You can apply basic algebra and geometry concepts too.
- You apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions.
- You solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Flexibility is non negotiable. This department's demands include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
